Case Study
Mortenson Construction
A trusted creative and production partner since 2018.
Mortenson is a national construction and development company operating across multiple markets and project types. We’ve partnered with them since 2018, supporting leadership communication, culture storytelling, internal programs, and social content.
The partnership began with an internal culture video series and expanded into strategic support for the accompanying leadership program, including naming, framework, and messaging. The work required a clear understanding of Mortenson’s culture, leadership values, and internal audience.
Over time, the relationship has grown into a close collaboration built on trust, shared standards, and thoughtful execution. This is the kind of work we do inside complex organizations, turning important internal stories into content that lands.
Challenge
Like many large organizations, Mortenson’s internal teams balance a wide range of priorities at any given time – from business development and client communications to internal programs and brand-building efforts. As demands increased with the growth of the company, there was a need for flexible, reliable creative support that could integrate smoothly with existing teams.
The challenge wasn’t a single campaign, but the ongoing need to support multiple teams with different objectives and to be opportunistic to share efficiencies when we detected them across departments. Mortenson needed a partner who could step in seamlessly, adapt quickly, and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
Approach
As the partnership has evolved, our role has flexed naturally between hands-on production and higher-level creative leadership, depending on what would be most helpful at the time. For example, when a team wanted to expand the social presence through the launch of a Mortenson Instagram account, the team asked for our partnership to strategize the launch, create the content, and present up the chain of leadership to make sure everyone felt the effort was cohesive with the overall branding culture, and goals of the company.
The Work
Rather than treating each engagement as a standalone effort, we’ve focused on continuity – building familiarity with Mortenson’s teams, audiences, and standards so the work can move forward efficiently and thoughtfully. We have a willingness to lead when needed, and to support quietly when that’s more appropriate. For example, when the decision was made to switch from hard hats to helmets for increased safety, the leadership team understood the potential barriers they were facing for widespread adoption, and they entrusted us to convey the reasoning and importance behind the decision to ensure buy-in to help make it a successful initiative.

Outcome
The result is a long-standing partnership that continues to grow, evolve and support Mortenson across a wide range of initiatives. We’re grateful for the trust Mortenson has placed in us over the years, and we approach each engagement with the same care and responsibility that trust requires.
“We hired Fresh Coast to create a series of videos as part of a major organizational change management effort. The videos were a smashing success, but more importantly, Fresh Coast became active participants of driving the change initiative – simply by how they interacted with our team members, their commitment to understanding our culture and the environment they created during every single shoot. There is no question that FCC is the best at what they do, but they knock it out of the park in terms of HOW they do their work, as well. We are grateful for their thought partnership, creativity, technical expertise and unwavering commitment to client experience.”
